Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga appears increasingly likely to be on the move in the near future. With the trade deadline approaching in just two weeks, Kuminga is expected to officially enter the trade market as Golden State weighs its options.

According to Brett Siegel, that timeline could move even faster. Siegel noted that the Warriors are already being proactive and are aggressively exploring trade possibilities involving Kuminga well ahead of the deadline.
“The Warriors are focused on moving Jonathan Kuminga… They’re already working on several angles involving Kuminga… The Warriors will have a deal to move him before the deadline,” the report read.

As speculation grows, several teams have been linked to Kuminga. Among them, the Sacramento Kings have surfaced as a leading contender. The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that Sacramento has shown genuine interest in acquiring the young forward this season.
“For one, the Kings and everyone else, the price has gone down, it just has,” Amick said. “So what does that look like in a possible Kings deal, because the Warriors are known to not have interest in Malik Monk, and he was front and center in those discussions in the offseason. So is it a (DeMar DeRozan) thing potentially? Who knows? I don’t probably see that happening.”
Kuminga opened the season as a starter, beginning the first 12 games in Golden State’s lineup. However, he has since fallen out of Steve Kerr’s regular rotation and appeared in only one of the Warriors’ last nine games. That shift has intensified speculation surrounding his long-term future with the franchise.
Steve Kerr Explains Jonathan Kuminga’s Reduced Role
Following the Warriors’ 120-107 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, head coach Steve Kerr addressed the decision to bench Jonathan Kuminga and offered insight into the challenges of fitting him into the rotation.
“It’s tough because he’s not really a short-minute player,” Kerr said. “I played a bunch of guys eight, 10 minutes. JK is a guy who needs rhythm – he’s not like a Gui [Santos] who’s going to come in or Pat [Spencer] and just fly around and play with great energy for four minutes and come out – he needs some rhythm.
“So, he always has to stay ready and there’s a pathway there. But right now, it’s not there, but things change quickly in the NBA.”
Through 18 appearances this season, Kuminga has averaged 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Still, questions appear to linger within the organization regarding his fit moving forward. As the trade deadline draws closer, both Kuminga and the Warriors seem increasingly aware that their partnership may soon reach its end.
