The Washington Wizards have seemingly made progress in their rebuild because of their haul of promising young players this summer. Much of the talk has been about the No. 2 overall pick, Alex Sarr, but it seems that the Washington Wizards have also hit it big with Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George.

Bub Carrington made waves during the NBA 2K25 Summer League, as he made it to the NBA All-Summer League Second Team. Fast forward to preseason, and it’s Kyshawn George stealing the show, so much so that Kyle Kuzma likened him to New York Knicks forward Mikal Bridges.

“He’s a forward, but he’s you know, like a point forward. There’s all these different names now, but he’s the kind of guy, like, the same style as Mikal Bridges,” Kuzma said via Bijan Todd of Monumental Sports Network. “You’d say Mikal Bridges is like a four, right? He can handle, he can play off pick-and-roll, you know, he can just do a little bit more. He’s still 6-foot-8, so he’s still pretty big.”

Kyshawn George was the No. 24 overall pick in this summer’s NBA Draft, selected by the New York Knicks, and the Washington Wizards traded for him in exchange for the No. 26 and 51 overall picks.

Kyshawn George’s preseason with the Washington Wizards

Kyshawn George has played five preseason matches for the Washington Wizards, averaging 8.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range in 20.8 minutes per contest.

Being compared to Mikal Bridges is high praise for Kyshawn George, and he’ll get the chance to prove himself this upcoming season, especially since Malcolm Brogdon is out for at least one month due to an injured hand.
