Why Team USA Head Coach Steve Kerr is Benching Boston Celtic Forward Jason Tatum During Olympics

Team USA Coach Steve Kerr has not played Boston Celtics Forward during the Paris Olympic Games all that much and fans are wondering why? Kerr just replies “Its not what I’m seeing from Jayson; it’s what I’ve seen from the other guys.” Kerr has also stated that its hard to play 11 people, even in the NBA.

However, the Olympics is about having the best players in the World competing against other players from other countries around the World. Jason Tatum just won his first title/championship with the Boston Celtics this past NBA season. Even his own teammates are amazed Tatum hasn’t seen much of the Olympic games besides watching it from the bench.

Team USA Head Coach Steve Kerr Benching Jason Tatum

Team USA Head Coach Steve Kerr cannot be happy with the performance of Team USA against Serbia. Despite, the comeback and winning the game , the second unit did not play well. Kerr cannot be happy with Devon Bookers performance. Booker only had six points and one assist in the 24 minutes he was on the floor.

However, Kerr still insists on saying “its not about what Jayson is doing nor not doing. Its about the combinations and the way that group has played together.”

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics, won the NBA Championship this past season. They beat the Dallas Mavericks in a best of seven series and won 4-1. The Celtics dominated the Mavericks in the championship game with Jason Tatum leading the way for the team. It is a little discouraging not seeing Tatum on the floor as much during these Olympic Games. The U.S. is still favored to win the last final game of the Olympics but hopefully Tatum can see the floor and be apart of the excitement.

Meanwhile, Kerr decided to play Anthony Edward over Tatum and Edwards struggled the whole game against Serbia. Edwards had turnovers and could not hit any open shots. No one is understanding Steve Kerr’s actions in all of this by Benching Tatum. It seems to be on the excuse side of things. One thing Kerr did say earlier in the tournament “he felt like an idiot” Benching Tatum.

The Gold Medal game is against France and Team USA will not have a favorable crowd ahead of them on Saturday afternoon in Paris. Hopefully, Head coach Steve Kerr will have Tatum play.

As the 2024 Paris Olympic Games are coming to a close this weekend, it has been an interesting  one with watching the Mens Basketball games without one of the biggest players in the NBA, Jason Tatum. NBA fans and Boston Celtic fans are not to happy with the decisions Head Coach Steve Kerr has made for the Olympic games.
