Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler just gave NBA fans the wildest soundbite of Christmas. The six-time All-Star didn’t hold back when asked about the heated sideline beef between Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr during Monday’s blowout win over Orlando Magic.

Butler’s comments following the Warriors’ 126-116 Christmas Day victory over the Dallas Mavericks have created an awkward buzz on the internet. The veteran star admitted he liked the verbal fireworks between his coach and teammate. Fans on social media were left in awe after learning what he said.
Jimmy Butler Admits He Liked the Argument Between Steve Kerr and Draymond Green
The dust-up happened early in the third quarter against the Magic when Green had just committed a turnover. Kerr called a timeout trying to refocus his squad. What followed was a heated exchange that ended with Green leaving for the locker room after allegedly dropping an F-bomb on Kerr.
“That’s just part of the game. When you’ve been together for so long, you’re gonna have arguments. It ain’t gonna be quiet all the time, it’s okay. You’ve got two fierce competitors that have won it together, and they want to continually win. I expected it to happen, that’s okay. I like that, yell at each other, turned me on a little bit,” Butler said.

Butler kept putting more sauce in his assessment, saying, “I like that! Y’all yell at each other. Turned me on a little bit, I’m not gonna lie. I like that confrontation. It’s good for us.”
Butler’s history of sideline drama made his take even more interesting. In March 2022, he reportedly wanted to fight Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra during a game against Warriors. That beef required multiple teammates to separate the two.
Both Kerr and Green have since apologized to the team for their behavior. However, looking at the record, seems like the sideline argument brought something positive to the table, as the Warriors won two back-to-back games after a 119-116 victory over Phoenix Suns, improving to 16-15 on the season.
NBA Fans Roast Jimmy Butler’s Wild Take on Kerr-Green Altercation
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) immediately criticized Butler’s comments. Though his tone suggests warriors are putting it behind them after winning against the Mavs, fans can’t neglect the brutal optics of Butler’s remark.
“I hope he meant in a game sense and not bbc boner sense,” one fan wrote.
Another asked in disbelief, “Why would bro say that???”
A third claimed, “We wonder why Jimmy likes public feuds with his last 2 teams where he makes it so untenable for them to keep him. You don’t blow up at your coach on the floor and storm off mid-game.”
The fourth fan remarked, “bruh it’s christmas.”
A fifth fan added, “Straight guy playing gay for shock value and attention is the straightest thing you can do. It’s like the guys who tweet about yaoi before sending DM requests to every woman they follow.”
Butler finished Christmas Day with 14 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds in the Warriors’ win but made fans on social media turn on him with his goofy remark.
