WNBA fans went wild with speculation as Chicago Sky star Angel Reese recently hinted on a potential comeback to court action, despite the WNBA being in its offseason.
Over at X, WNBA fans went wild with excitement when Angel Reese responded to a fan asking about her throwing hoops again, or playing basketball, to which she only responded with “soon.”
While a lot of fans were immediately excited, some were skeptical and had a few ideas in mind right off the bat.

“You better not be going to that Saudi league niece,” the fan said.
You better not be going to that Saudi league niece.

The fan, though not mentioned, was most probably referring to Project B, a newly announced global women’s basketball league targeting a 2026 launch, plans to start with six teams and stage seven two-week tournaments across Asia, Europe, and the Americas as part of a bid to transform the sport’s economic model and audience reach. The league was once rumored to be heavily funded by Saudi Arabia, which also caused a stir of discussion online.
The venture, developed by tech and media executives including Grady Burnett and Geoff Prentice, promises multimillion-dollar contracts and a structure that treats players as partners rather than just talent.
High-profile players have already signaled confidence in the project; veterans such as Nneka Ogwumike and Alyssa Thomas have committed to play, lending credibility to Project B’s pitch of athlete empowerment and equity stakes for participants.
Reports suggest base salaries will start far above current WNBA proposals, with figures reported to begin around $2 million and the potential for deals that scale into the millions more, signaling a dramatic shift in pay expectations for elite women players.

Angel Reese, however, was not rumored to be part of the league, and has never hinted before on her participation.
Project B also joins a growing alternative-market landscape that already includes Unrivaled, which launched in 2025 and paid its inaugural participants guaranteed sums plus equity, forcing players and sponsors to weigh multiple offseason opportunities in a crowded marketplace.
WNBA Fans Speculate What Angel Reese Could Mean
Over at X, fans were left hanging on what Angel Reese could have meant by “soon,” as the new season of the WNBA would not be until next year. Reese has also already announced that she would skip this year’s Unrivaled.
“Angel please don’t play with me right now, I have been surviving on your highlights for 2 months now, I’m hungry and I need to be fed, so how soon are we talking,” one fan said.
“Like HOW SOON?,” another one said. “Asking for a friend. Or two. or a hundred. Or a thousand. Whatevs. HOW SOON!?”
SOON. 😉 https://t.co/CRynAuBfDO
