Long did the WNBA’s players and the executives try to achieve common ground amidst the heated CBA negotiations, but some WNBA Fans had had enough. And even Breanna Stewart’s latest update on the talks won’t help them, and maybe not even the extended CBA set to expire on Friday.
During an interview with Ballislife, posted on X/Twitter, Stewart, vice president of the WNBPA, revealed that negotiations are getting closer to achieving a resolution, hoping that both sides will finally agree on it.
However, user @The_MomSpot had an intriguing insight, replying, “They literally have NO CHOICE. I mean, they think they do, but none of them really want to go overseas to play basketball and the stars would rather have owners holding their fate than BS and NC. My 2 cents,” claiming that some players rather stay under ownership than find new opportunities.
User @alanbarcoff went another mile, writing, “The WNBA is NEVER giving them $10.5 million per team salary cap, the WNBA has not even responded to them in 2 weeks, and you think billionaire owners are going to cave in now?? NOT!!!!” believing an agreement isn’t bound to happen.
The WNBA CBA deadline is just two days away! [eyes emoji]
Breanna Stewart exclusively tells @Ballislife that “she’s very confident” a deal will get done.

More WNBA Fans caved in to the negotiations, making it clear that just like the players, they, too, are seeking to end this high-stakes issue.
“Dog I swear if they announce another fucking extension in two days….,” one user commented.
“I hope they wrap this up by the Jan 9th deadline,” one user remarked.
All WNBA Fans are in their seats at what hopefully could be the final chapter of the CBA negotiations. Since October, many players backed out of the agreement due to the low salaries they’ve been receiving, which took a drastic turn since the 2020 lockdowns. Now, with the league’s sales and value exploding, players hope for higher and fitting paychecks.
Some WNBA Fans in disapproval of the ongoing negotiations
Even with most WNBA Fans hoping for a happy ending to the CBA talks, some have become skeptical of the debates and protests that these negotiations have caused.

For instance, user @BernieBurnso didn’t hold back, writing “These players are gonna bankrupt the league,” highlighting the possible drawbacks of increasing the wages of roughly 144 players in the league.

With the current negotiations, it is possible that one of the topics being highly considered is to add more players to the current 11 or 12 limit per team.
Moreover, WNBA Fans have also braced for the worst: a possible extension or even a decline in negotiations. And when all of these happen, the usual response is a strike, which could deeply hurt the league more.
