WNBA fans are reacting to statements released by the WNBA and the WNBPA after the CBA expired. The W’s statement was short and brief and mentioned that the negotiations with the players would continue.

At the same time, the statement by the players’ association was pretty long and called out the league for putting the livelihoods of the ballers at risk. Fans have been highlighting the differences between the two statements while taking time to troll the WNBPA for their version.

“WNBA vs. WNBPA statements regarding the CBA deadline passing (thinking face emoji)” Rachel A. DeMita tweeted.

“I really hope people are now seeing how juvenile and disingenuous the @TheWNBPA is. How are you willing to compromise but then say your demands are not optional? They’re the only ones ‘jeopardizing players’ livelihoods’ with their outrageous asks.” One fan said.

“WNBPA is a woman’s tale as old as time…. – a mid woman finds a good man to support her while she improves her credit, gets a job and loses weight, – woman now thinks she’s God’s gift, gets attention from new men (Unrivaled, Project B), alienates good man – woman pushes for a divorce and might be single forever,” another fan explained.

“Yeah this statement from the WNBPA has only helped to push me into the camp of the owners. I’m sick and tired of the manipulation attempts from the WNBPA. Let them strike if they want, the W can and will survive it.” one fan said.

WNBA Fans Feel Players Should Not Sit Out Games

Many WNBA fans feel that the WNBPA is doing injustice to their players by asking them to sit out games if their demands don’t come through. Some feel that many players only have the W, and no other league, and that they need the WNBA more than the WNBA needs them.

“Everyone is missing the point that Phee and Stewart don’t really care about these negotiations cuz they got something else to fall on. But lots of players only got the WNBA. And they won’t ever go against the union even tho they should. That’s good living for 40 to 60 games.” one fan said.

“This is wild and looks like no season sadly. Have to watch old games/seasons during the summer.” another fan predicted.

“When the ones leading negotiations have their own league to go to is a conflict of interest. How hard are they really negotiating? They don’t care about the players not in unrivaled…this will backfire. Too much talent that can cross the line and take spots (person shrugging emoji)” another fan chimed in.

The WNBPA negotiations are being mainly led by Napheesa Collier, who is also the co-founder of the Unrivaled League. Some feel that this will be unfair to other players who only have the WNBA to rely on.
