“They Think We Care About Women’s Basketball Outside Caitlin Clark”: WNBA Fans Sound Off As Kelsey Plum’s Cringe Interview Returns To Spotlight Amid Matthew Stafford Controversy

A clip of Kelsey Plum giving a stiff, uninterested post-game interview has resurfaced online, and WNBA Fans are having a field day dragging it back into the spotlight amid unrelated drama surrounding Matthew Stafford.

The clip, shared by @JonnyRoot_ with the caption, “Wanna see what an athlete being rude in an interview ACTUALLY looks like 👇🏼” — now reads as a reminder of how heated fan culture around women’s basketball has become.

Social chatter quickly zoomed in on one blunt fan take. @LosAngeles824 wrote, “Problem is they think we care about women’s basketball outside of Caitlin Clark.”

That sentiment underscores how much Clark’s star power continues to dominate WNBA Fans discussions, to the point where other elite players get drowned out unless there’s drama.

As one user dug deeper into off-court behavior, @ChipstrJones added fuel to the fire: “Have you seen the videos of her walking right by fans trying to get her autograph? She comes across as an unbearable person and role model for young girls that enjoy watching her play.”

Fans were split, with some defending Plum’s right to privacy after games, and others insisting that media moments matter when you’re one of the faces of the league.

The WNBA Fans‘ reaction shows how every public moment from high-level players gets pored over online — good or bad. Plum, a former All-Star and key contributor on her team, has proven on court that she’s a force, but online narratives don’t always follow performance. Instead, a single awkward interview clip can become a punchline that overshadows quality play.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark continues to be the central figure in WNBA Fans’ radar, pulling attention not just for her elite scoring and assists numbers, but because she’s drawing eyeballs like few other women’s basketball players ever have. That lens makes every other player’s public moment feel like it’s being measured against Clark’s spotlight, for better or worse.

WNBA Fans React to Team USA Women’s National Team December Training Camp Roster

WNBA Fans are buzzing after the USA Basketball Women’s National Team announced its December training camp roster, set for Dec. 12–14 in Durham, North Carolina. The camp will bring top names together as USA Basketball looks ahead to its 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup preparation. The list includes stars like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers and veterans such as Kelsey Plum and Brittney Griner.

Social posts lit up right after the reveal.

@trendyhoopstars shared the news, “Team USA has announced the roster for the USA Basketball Women’s National Team December Training Camp,” with notable names listed. That sparked almost immediate fan reactions.

For some WNBA Fans, the presence of Clark on the roster is everything.

@TheOne75505831 joked, “Without Catlin nobody gonna watch team usa lol,” reflecting the belief among parts of the fan base that Clark’s presence dramatically boosts attention and viewership for women’s basketball.

Others took the camp as a chance to talk about different kinds of impact. @runnerjoe313 said, “I can tell you already who’s going to lead this team in rebounds,” alongside a clip showing Angel Reese grabbing multiple boards in one play.

Fans pointed out Reese’s hustle and physical playstyle as a strong counterbalance to offensive stars like Clark.

WNBA Fans also noted that while the camp is high-profile, it’s part of a longer process. The training camp isn’t the final roster for the World Cup, but a step in building chemistry, evaluating players and mixing seasoned veterans with rising stars.

Whether talking about star power, future lineups, or who gets the loudest cheers online, WNBA Fans made one thing clear: attention around the national team is driven as much by personalities and social energy as by actual game plans — and Clark remains at the center of nearly every conversation. WNBA Fans won’t let that change anytime soon.
