“The League Is Profoundly Sexist”: WNBA Fans Mock Adam Silver After Speaking On League’s Labor Talks

WNBA players have been in the spotlight for a long time, as they have been demanding higher pay. WNBA fans are well aware of the situation, and many have offered their support to the players. WNBA stars protested at the All-Star game with shirts that read “pay us what you owe us.”

It’s been an ongoing debate on the league’s labor talks, but there seems to be no conclusion yet. However, the good news is that the Commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver, is ready to turn things around for WNBA stars.

In a recent interview, Silver stated that there will be a significant increase in the cycle.

“I think share isn’t the right way to look at it because there’s so much more revenue in the NBA…they are gonna get a big increase in this cycle of collective bargaining and they deserve it,” Silver said.

While Silver has given a promise, WNBA fans were not pleased as they mocked the Commissioner for his words. Here are some fan reactions from X.

“This league is profoundly sexist,” one fan wrote.

“Does anybody know how much money the NBA gets from the WNBA yearly? because they get a cut of the W’s revenue before the capspace is set every year,” another fan wrote.

“Why don’t they want to share the revenue with the players?” asked another fan.

WNBA Fans Continued To Slam Adam Silver For His Comment

Fans held nothing back as they continued to mock Adam Silver for his words. Many fans believe that the Commissioner of the WNBA, Cathy Englebert, is only a puppet, and it’s Adam Silver who calls the shots.

“Shoulda ask Silver if @PHEEsespieces tried to talk with him about Englebert if he is her boss instead of selling her out like she did,” one fan wrote.

“Steph Curry making $53M in a year is 5X Adam Silver”s salary so shouldn’t top WNBA player be making 5X Cathy”s salary at $15M?” another fan asked.

“These women aren’t going to fall for this. Revenue share is worth more than the increase in salaries. It’s the difference between being an employee and being invested. If the men can have double-digit revenue share, why can the women?” another fan asked.

WNBA fans have been unhappy about the fact that their players are being paid less, especially when NBA players are receiving significantly more. Fans and players are eagerly hoping that things will change soon in the league.
