WNBA fans didn’t hold back on Sophie Cunningham after the Indiana Fever guard reacted to Terry Rozier’s arrest over federal gambling charges — and somehow, she ended up catching more heat than he did.
Rozier, who was arrested Thursday and charged for his alleged role in a betting scheme tied to a March 2023 game with the Charlotte Hornets, has been placed on indefinite leave by the NBA. What raised eyebrows, though, is that the Miami Heat guard will reportedly continue to receive his full $26 million salary while away.

That bit of news clearly didn’t sit right with Cunningham, who posted on X:
“no way. please tell me this is fake,” she wrote.

Her reaction was brief, but it didn’t take long for the internet to turn on her instead.
One fan fired back, “You slept with your married CEO for extensions. Rozier missed a few shots to cash a parlay out. Both wrong huh?”
Another asked, “I thought you liked labor unions?”
A third piled on, “He’s not found guilty. Are you on drugs?”
The 27-year-old guard has often spoken her mind online, and this time it landed her in the crossfire between NBA and WNBA fans.
“I Agree With You on This One”: Some WNBA Fans Back Cunningham
Not everyone was against her, though. A number of WNBA fans actually sided with Cunningham, saying they understood why she couldn’t believe Rozier would still get his paycheck in full.

One fan wrote, “you are usually an insufferable person, but I agree with you on this one.”

Another added, “Welcome back to Twitter Sophie. Your commentary is one of the best things on this app.”
A third fan pointed out the pay gap, saying, “If you took that money and divided it up equally among all available players in the WNBA, each active roster player under contract (156 active roster spots in the WNBA) would receive over $165,000.”
Whether people agreed or not, Cunningham once again found herself in the middle of social media chaos — proving that when she speaks, WNBA fans always have something to say.
