Dallas Wings rookie sensation Paige Bueckers has WNBA fans buzzing after AppleTV revealed its latest sports drama with the 2025 Rookie of the Year in a starring role.

According to Justin Kroll of Variety, Apple Original Films is set to release “Jess & Pearl”, a movie that Bueckers will both star in and help produce.

“Set in the world of women’s basketball, the film follows two phenoms who forge an extraordinary bond as teammates until fame, competition and the ruthless business of college athletics threaten to turn their friendship into an epic rivalry,” Kroll reported.

Bueckers will be portraying a basketball player — not too far from real life — and WNBA fans instantly flooded social media with reactions.

One fan said, “No way @paigebueckers1 is the new Lucas Scott?!”

Another added, “Where are the ‘She should stick to basketball’ comments? Are those only reserved for one player who happens to not be white. BTW, I wonder who will play Pearl?”

A third wrote, “I think Paige is a good actress. She comes off real natural in the commercials she’s in.”

The 23-year-old’s rookie campaign with the Wings was one for the books, even without a playoff appearance. Bueckers walked away with Rookie of the Year, an All-WNBA selection, and a spot in the All-Star Game — solidifying her as one of the league’s brightest young stars.

There’s no release date yet for the film, but it’s already become one of the most talked-about sports projects online — especially among those eager to see Bueckers take on Hollywood.

“Is this the project she and Angel were talking about?” WNBA Fans Speculate on Bueckers’ Collab With Angel Reese

The news also reignited rumors of a potential collaboration between Bueckers and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.

Just days before the announcement, Reese told fans during a TikTok Live, “Me and Paige [Bueckers] actually have something really big coming up together. Stay tuned.”

That vague tease had fans connecting the dots. One wrote, “Is this the project she and Angel were talking about?”

    Another guessed, “Podcast probably.”

A third added, “Please let it be about a trade but it’s honestly a podcast appearance or some form of marketing campaign.”

Whether it’s a podcast or a movie cameo, WNBA fans are clearly ready for whatever this duo has in store.
