WNBA fans poked fun at one new “record” that Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson recently made.

Social media account BricksCenter on X posted a new viral meme it highlighted how Aces’ A’Ja Wilson became the first player to “hit a game winner over a married couple” when she made the shot over Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner. The post made the record to be not only about the WNBA, but in the history of all sports.

For one, Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner are not yet married, though they have been engaged to each other since 2023. Furthermore, the account BricksCenter is a satire account often poking fun at sports fails and exaggerated retelling of sports news.

Still, fans found the “stat” a little too wild. One fan said:

    “Such an un serious league.”

In Game 3 of the WNBA Finals, A’ja Wilson dominated the game with a Finals-career high 34 points and 14 rebounds while also adding four assists, ultimately hitting a contested elbow jumper in the game’s final second to seal a 90-88 victory for the Las Vegas Aces over the Phoenix Mercury putting the Aces up 3-0 in the series.

Wilson continued on a notable first half for Las Vegas, as she even became the first player in Finals history to have back-to-back games with at least 25 points and 10 rebounds and passing the previous single-Postseason scoring value, serving as the offensive engine that separated teams after the first quarter.

The Aces started the game like a team on fire with their shooting, including a few open triples early in the first half that allowed them to get leads of double digits, but the Phoenix team made a run at the end of the fourth quarter after losing Satou Sabally to a head injury.

WNBA Fans React to “Non-Sport Fact” Stat on A’ja Wilson

WNBA fans reacted to the unusual A’ja Wilson stat that social media poked fun at recently, where she was named the first WNBA player to ever make a jump shot over a “married couple.”

For some fans, the “stat” felt so wild that it did not sound real to them. One fan said:

“This is some trendy hoops type stat.”

Another fan pointed out how this was similar to the records and status for LeBron James, but is obviously an A’Ja fan. They said:

“This some s*** they’d make up for LeBron. But for Aja, I’ll allow it!”

As the Aces aim to grab another WNBA title, WNBA fans look forward to more iconic clutch moments worth talking about.
