WNBA Fans are deeply disappointed with the national media on Monday due to a stat that makes Caitlin Clark’s college stats seem like they were served on a platter. On X, user @ShowCaseShabazz shared a graphic showing the four players with the highest 30-point matches against AP-ranked opponents since the 2023 season, with Clark gaining seven total.
The other three were JuJu Watkins, who had 10 total, and Paige Buckers and Hannah Hidalgo, both having five. However, many WNBA Fans didn’t like the idea of putting Clark beside these three, seeing the graphic as disrespectful to the now Indiana Fever star as well as deeply inaccurate.

User @SHistorians, one of the unhappy Fans, couldn’t help but feel uneasy about the media’s portrayal of Clark: “This is so embarrassing when you look at the date. I get people are insanely jealous and petty of Caitlin Clark, but don’t be stupid too. CC’s stats are for ONE YEAR!”

One user, @LetCaitlinCook, couldn’t help but bring up what many WNBA Fans claim to be an ongoing effort by the media to deny the impact Clark had since college, writing, “they wanted to shape the narratives and the personnel involved exactly how they wanted so that a certain person only had one season included in their tally.”
WNBA Fans also brought up how Clark achieved all seven in the mentioned season, while the other three had to achieve it in more. User @lance_murell perfectly captured this sentiment, commenting, “Funny thing is Caitin’s 7 came in one season, and it took those other three 2 seasons or more to get 5 or more.”
The arguments alone have proven how impactful Clark is to many WNBA Fans, and her influence stretches far beyond just the stats. It’s the media’s portrayal of her over the past months that has surely drawn heat.
WNBA Fans claim Caitlin Clark graphic was deeply misleading
Adding to the WNBA Fans‘ letdown was the graphic getting Clark’s 30-point games wrong. While the Fans have given different numbers on how many the former-Iowa Hawkeye has indeed scored at the top, the fact that it’s significantly more than seven is undeniable.

On the same X/Twitter post, user @Gee_Unit123, out of disbelief, even asked GrokAI for the true stats, which were revealed to be 23. However, it showed Clark’s stats throughout her college year, starting in 2020.

Still, the Hawkeyes’ official website recorded that in the 2023-2024 season, Clark had made not seven, not 23, but 17 of the feat, but still making it clear that the said graphic has indeed misled the WNBA Fans.
