The Caitlin Clark effect has been propelling the WNBA to new heights for more than two years. Yet, for most WNBA Fans, such an impact has been sadly never appreciated enough by many in the league. And even in the offseason, the Fans never hesitate to call out what they call deeply unfair.
On Sunday, Rachel DeMita, one of the biggest fans of Clark, raised how the league has been “shunning” new WNBA Fans like her for supporting Clark and the Indiana Fever. DeMita mentioned how it was the Fans who gave most of the W’s players the “leverage” that they have, while also “tuning in and pumping up the viewership across the entire league.”

Soon, DeMita’s statement went viral online as many WNBA Fans backed her up.
One user, @chicagodudes, even claimed political and racial undertones behind the scenes, writing, “Ratchet racist lesbians.” Meanwhile, user @lobosleisureden believed the W is ruining their momentum: “The biggest opportunity to grow and their egos killed it.”
WNBA Fans also didn’t hold back and called out the WNBPA, claiming that the players’ association did nothing to genuinely support the Fans.
User @securewander captured this sentiment, writing, “They [WNBPA] mocked new fans who make up the majority of us and labeled us as ‘casuals,’ as if those casual fans didn’t save up and travel to watch their games.”
Meanwhile, user @LuisMSoto4 doubled down on the racial undertones, writing, “They have bombed the golden opportunity by pulling the damn race card and the league not squishing it immediately and letting continue just makes the high ups look like chumps that don’t know what they are doing,” highlighting the W’s failure to resolve this very concerning issue.
WNBA Fans Still Divided on the Caitlin Clark Effect
Despite the majority of the WNBA Fans clinging to the undeniable impact Clark and the Fever had on the league, some Fans refuse to totally acknowledge this.

One of these Fans was @boldstatme57550, who went on another level by writing, “She [DeMita] still talking about this shit, god Clark fans are losers.”
They also called out to WNBA Fans, claiming they are still stuck to Clark’s rookie year, unable to recognize her groin injuries last season.
Meanwhile, user @subvetnucmmcmss believed that being one of the WNBA Fans is more than just watching Clark, writing, “Well if the only reason you are watching is Clark then you are just superficial.”
Whether you’re a critic or a supporter of the Caitlin Clark effect, the conversation regarding her true impact on the W remains a hotspot for heated arguments.
