As more details surfaced about Rickea Jackson’s frightening encounter with her ex-boyfriend James Pearce Jr., WNBA fans quickly rallied around the LA Sparks forward, who has yet to speak publicly since the incident.
According to NFL writer Dov Kleiman, Jackson told police that she had recently ended a three-year relationship with Pearce. After the breakup, she blocked the Atlanta Falcons linebacker’s number. Pearce allegedly responded by contacting her from a different phone.
On Friday, Jackson reportedly told Pearce to leave her alone and made it clear she wanted no further contact. That didn’t stop him. On the day of the incident, Jackson noticed Pearce following her in his Lamborghini.
Things escalated fast. Pearce exited his vehicle and attempted to open her car door, prompting Jackson to speed away toward a nearby police station. As she drove, Pearce followed closely and allegedly tried to rear-end her car near the station.

Instead of complying, Pearce allegedly jumped back into his car and fled, striking a police officer in the knee in the process. He later crashed at an intersection, tried to run, and was ultimately tackled by roughly seven officers.
