LA Sparks star Rickea Jackson has just received a huge honor from her former high school, but WNBA fans focused more on her fit than the meaning of the event.
To honor Jackson’s accomplishments with the Detroit Edison School Academy, her jersey was retired, and she was given her proper honors.
What caught the WNBA fans’ eyes the most was Rickea’s outfit during the event. She wore a fur coat when she arrived at the school, and the fans quickly poked fun at it.

@HellaHiking already knew where the ceremony took place, saying, “ If you didnt say this school was in Detroit, I believe we would’ve easily guessed it was in Detroit the moment Rickea walked in.”
However, @Iminit8228 simply admired Rickea and said, “What a queen she a baddie for real.”
During her time at DEPSA, she became their all-time leading scorer with 1,771 points. She also brought three MHSSA Class C state championships to their program and was awarded the two-time Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year and 2019 Miss Michigan Basketball recipient.
“Detroit’s finest”: WNBA fans celebrate Rickea Jackson’s jersey retirement
Jokes aside, Rickea Jackson’s jersey retirement ceremony was one she deserved due to her contributions to their basketball program.

@doranmaul kept it simple, saying, “Detroit’s finest, no debate.”

@yodalehu10720 added, “Top 5 in the wnba .. No stats needed.”
And @Cheyney30 said, “She Earned This. Salute Queen.”
She continues to bring pride to DEPSA as she navigates her WNBA career with the Los Angeles Sparks, where she has already made significant strides. In 2024, Jackson was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team.
