Heading into Game 4 of the semifinals, WNBA fans didn’t really know what to expect between the Fever and the Aces. Indiana had its back against the wall, and Vegas had a chance to shut the door. Fans were split: would Caitlin Clark’s crew force a Game 5, or was A’ja Wilson ready to wrap this up?
On the WNBA Countdown Presented by Google, Adraya Carter and Chiney Ogwumike were put on the spot. Elle Duncan pressed them for picks, but even then, they weren’t exactly confident. Ogwumike offered up a hesitant “yes” for the Aces, while Carter waffled before eventually siding with her.

Indiana held strong at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where they’ve been tough all postseason, and pulled out a 90-83 win to extend the series. That means we’re heading to a winner-takes-all Game 5, and fans wasted no time clowning Carter and Ogwumike for their bad call.
One fan reshared the clip of their predictions on X with the caption: “DEI hires gone bad.”

Another piled on with: “The terrible triplets. Fire them.”

Someone else even joked about weaponizing the analysts’ “jinx” to get Indiana into the Finals:
“Can we get them to jinx, I mean, pick the Aces in Game 5 too? (Of course we can.”
Now the Aces have to hope the so-called curse of Carter and Ogwumike works in their favor.
WNBA Fans Push Back on Whistle Talk
But the win didn’t just spark jokes about bad predictions — it also set off a conversation about officiating. After the game, CBS Sports Radio’s Robin Lundberg stirred the pot by tweeting:
“The Fever definitely benefited from the whistle today.”

That didn’t sit well with Fever fans, who thought the calls were fair for once. For most of the season, players like Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark have complained about the lack of whistles in their favor. On this night, the officiating finally looked balanced.

One fan clapped back at Lundberg:
“You’re used to seeing the Fever never having fair officiating, so a balanced game looks weird to you.”

Another pointed out Sophie’s response to the hot take:
“Now you have Sophie liking your bad takes.”
Cunningham herself weighed in, backing up the refs:
“And it’s about damn time. I honestly thought the refs did a nice job today on both sides!”
For once, Fever fans and players agreed — the game felt fair. The bigger debate now? Whether Indiana can finish the job in Game 5.
