With the season on the line, the Indiana Fever are heading into their biggest matchup of the year shorthanded once again, and the WNBA fans are feeling anxious. Forward Damiris Dantas will miss Game 5 of the semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces after remaining in concussion protocols, stretching her absence to three weeks.
The latest injury report confirmed what many fans feared—Dantas won’t be available for the do-or-die clash that could send Indiana to the WNBA Finals. For some, the frustration boiled over on social media. One fan joked,
“Was she boxing without head gear?” while another added, “Was she KO’d by Thanos ????”

Others speculated that Dantas’ situation was bigger than just an injury. One comment even compared it to DeWanna Bonner’s departure from Indiana, suggesting,
“hearing that she is pulling a Bonner and wanted out before team got to playoffs, but team thought they could convince her to stay but didnt want other teams picking her so they elected to put on bench with this ‘injury.’”
Before being sidelined, Dantas had been a key part of the Fever’s second unit, appearing in 38 games and averaging 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds on 34.8% shooting. Her absence adds to an already lengthy list of unavailable players, which includes Caitlin Clark, Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Chloe Bibby.
Massive support requested by Indiana Fever from WNBA Fans
With their roster depleted, the Fever have turned to their WNBA fan base for an extra push ahead of Sunday’s showdown at Michelob Ultra Arena. The team’s social media accounts rallied supporters, and the response has been loud.

“Fever fans should wear face paint like Mel Gibson in Braveheart. ‘Freeeeeedommmmm!!!!’” one fan wrote.

Another fired-up post read, “Y’all got this ladies! Let’s GO!!!!!!!!”
One even turned attention to head coach Stephanie White, hoping her game-day outfit could carry some luck: “Question of the day is, will she wear the lucky red leather jacket?”
The stakes couldn’t be higher. The winner of Game 5 will punch their ticket to the WNBA Finals against the Phoenix Mercury, who eliminated the Minnesota Lynx in four games. For Indiana, it’s a chance to silence the doubters and extend a remarkable playoff run—even with so many key players watching from the bench.
