Just recently, the WNBA held its lottery to determine which team will get the 2025 Draft’s number one pick. This led Chicago Sky star Angel Reese to share a strong opinion about the upcoming rookie class.
The Sky faced disappointment in the recent WNBA Draft Lottery, settling for the third overall pick instead of the top two they had hoped for. The lottery results saw the Dallas Wings secure the first selection, followed closely by the Los Angeles Sparks at number two. This outcome means the Sky will miss out on an opportunity to select some of the most sought-after talent in this year’s draft.

Due to a trade in 2023 that brought Marina Mabrey to Chicago, the Sky were not in contention for the first pick. The deal allowed Dallas the option to swap first-round picks, which ultimately played a significant role in the lottery outcome. With the Wings claiming the top spot, they opted not to swap picks with the Sky, leaving Chicago to make their selection at third.
Looking ahead to the draft, all eyes are on UConn standout Paige Bueckers, who is favored to be the first overall pick. Bueckers has been impressive this season, averaging over 21 points per game and solidifying her status as a top prospect. The Sky will need to focus on their strategy to ensure they make the most of their third pick.
Chicago Sky Star Angel Reese Shares Strong Opinion on 2205 WNBA Rookie Class

With the draft order now set, it’ll only be a matter of time before these rookies make their pro debut soon. Along with that development, Reese shared her thoughts on the 2025 rookie class, as seen in a video shared by the league’s official account on X.
Angel Reese believes another historic rookie class is coming like the one she was apart of and she’s ready to continue making history in Chicago 💪

Potential candidates for the Sky include USC forward Kiki Iriafen and UConn shooting guard Azzi Fudd, both of whom have shown great promise. Additionally, Notre Dame point guard Olivia Miles and LSU forward Aneesah Morrow could also be viable options as the Sky look to strengthen their roster.

The 2025 WNBA Draft will take place after the conclusion of the NCAA women’s basketball season, giving teams time to evaluate prospects. For the Chicago Sky, this draft is a crucial opportunity to enhance their lineup and make a push for future success.
