Anthony Davis just aired out Carmelo Anthony on national television.

The Dallas Mavericks big man called out the Hall of Famer for leaving him on read during a recent NBA Showtime broadcast. Melo tried to smooth things over by claiming his number hasn’t changed.
However, AD wasn’t buying it. The playful exchange between the former teammates quickly went viral as fans watched two legends settle their text message beef live on air.
Anthony Davis Accuses Carmelo Anthony of Ignoring His Messages
The awkward but funny moment unfolded during NBA Showtime’s latest episode with Davis as an analyst on the panel.
Melo attempted to keep the lines of communication open with his former Lakers teammate. The 40-year-old made sure to let Davis know he’s still reachable despite retiring from the NBA in 2022.
“My number’s still the same champ. Just letting you know,” the Mavs player said.

Davis didn’t let him off the hook. The Brow fired back immediately with receipts that exposed Melo’s claim as cap.
“Hey man I hit you man. You ain’t even respond champ,” Davis replied with a skull emoji.
Everyone caught everyone off guard after witnessing the hilarious callout between two players who shared the court in Los Angeles during the 2021-22 season. AD and Melo were teammates on that Lakers squad alongside LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.
The duo’s friendship dates back years before they finally teamed up in LA. Both entered the league in the legendary 2003 draft class that produced multiple Hall of Famers. Davis came into the league a decade later in 2012 but developed a relationship with Anthony through Team USA and various All-Star weekends.
Davis is currently playing for the Mavericks after getting traded from the Lakers but injuries have kept him off the floor for long stretches. Mavs community is frustrated after losing Luka Dončić and adding a player who hardly stays healthy to step onto the court.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported Tuesday that only two teams are currently interested in Davis and are exploring trade options for him: the Toronto Raptors and the Atlanta Hawks.
Meanwhile, Carmelo is busy working as an analyst on NBA broadcasts, including NBA Showtime. Despite the trade talk around Davis, the two still respect each other — even if Melo doesn’t always reply to his messages right away.
