Zion Williamson, power forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, shocked everyone at the Pelicans media day when he showed off a much slimmer version of himself than what fans are used to. While Williamson’s numbers were always pretty impressive, the talented power forward always faced plenty of flak from both analysts and fans for his large physique.
It looks like Williamson has done some pretty extraordinary work after the season ended and has lost a ton of weight. Williamson remarked to reporters that he definitely feels a lot better now, when compared to before. While most of the reactions were delightful comments, retired NFL safety T.J. Ward dropped a comment that stirred up some hate.

“I really feel a shift in my body. I haven’t felt like this since college, high school, just where I can walk into a gym, and I feel good.” Zion Williamson said to reporters on Pelicans media day.
“More evidence football players are the best athletes and in the best shape!” Retired NFL safety, T.J. Ward commented on Williamson’s remarks in the video.
The argument between the physical strengths and health statuses of NFL and NBA players, like Zion Williamson, is definitely an ongoing one. Many feel that basketball players need to be in better shape since the intensity of the game and the harsh schedule demands it of them. Meanwhile, there are plenty who feel that football is a lot more physical and therefore, NFL players are among those who are stronger and faster.
Zion Williamson Excited For More Responsibility With Joe Dumars
In the same appearance on Pelicans media day, Zion Williamson also spoke excitedly about his relationship with Joe Dumars, who is the team’s executive Vice-President of basketball operations. Williamson seems to have a strong bond with Dumars, even remarking that the former player will help him if he loses his focus at any point.

“He’s going to hold me accountable, and as he holds me accountable, he’s going to give me a lot of responsibility as well, which I’m excited for. I know he’s going to hold me to a really high standard, and if I slip up or anything, I know he’s going to be right there to make sure I get right back on the path.” Zion Williamson said about Joe Dumars.
Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans will definitely be hoping that their upcoming season goes better than their last one. The Pelicans are all set to open their preseason with a matchup against the Houston Rockets next month.
