Caitlin Clark rang in the New Year by showing just how strong her friendship is with former Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham — and by surprising NFL fans with her latest football allegiance.
On New Year’s Eve, Clark shared an Instagram Story of Cunningham’s post‑game interview from last season. Flustered and out of breath, Cunningham hilariously mixed up the old saying “a breath of fresh air” and instead said: “A fresh of breath air.”
Clark doubled down on the moment, captioning the clip: “I love a fresh of breath air.”
The playful jab highlighted the bond the two have built in less than a year. Cunningham became known as Clark’s on‑court enforcer after defending her in a scuffle with Connecticut Sun guard Jacy Sheldon, who poked Clark in the eye.
Off the court, their friendship has flourished — Cunningham and Lexie Hull even served as Clark’s guest caddies at The Annika golf event.

The only uncertainty for their partnership lies in the Fever front office, as Cunningham entered unrestricted free agency at the end of the season.
“I’m a Drake Maye Fan”: Caitlin Clark Surprises Travis Kelce with Patriots Support
Caitlin Clark also made headlines off the hardwood with her latest appearance on the New Heights Podcast hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce.
While chatting with the brothers, Clark revealed she’s pulling for the New England Patriots in the NFL playoffs.

“Honestly, I’m a Drake Maye fan. I think he’s been incredible and I think the Patriots are,” Clark said. “I’ll probably be pulling for the Patriots [to win the Super Bowl].”
The comment caught Travis Kelce off guard, as Clark has long been a Chiefs supporter and has built a strong friendship with Kelce and his fiancée, Taylor Swift.
Between her playful dig at Cunningham and her surprising NFL allegiance, Caitlin Clark continues to show why she’s one of the most talked‑about athletes — keeping WNBA fans, NBA fans, and NFL fans all equally entertained.
