The Indiana Fever made significant additions this offseason to bolster Caitlin Clark’s performance and get a better standing this May. With the Fever’s bold moves, WNBA legend Sue Bird looks forward to witnessing how these changes affect the team. In the latest episode of her “A Touch More” podcast, Bird analyzes Fever’s new players and their potential.
Bird looked at the Fever’s actions after seeing Clark’s effect on them, proving to be a formidable force in the league. She first mentioned three-time WNBA champion Natasha Howard’s addition to the team:
“I think Natasha Howard certainly stands out. I loved, loved playing with Tash. She’s just this glue player that doesn’t get enough shine for what she does because a lot of what she does doesn’t show up on the box score, but she’s just always in the right place at the right time. A player like that complements what Indiana is building,” Bird said.

Bird played with Howard at the Seattle Storm from 2018 to 2020.

The former UConn Huskies then acknowledged the addition of Sophie Cunningham and DeWanna Bonner to the Fever, particularly the latter, who has established a relationship with the team’s new head coach.
“The biggest part of DB joining this team is that she’s already played for Steph [White], so I think that’s gonna help bridge the gap,” Bird on Bonner.
“A 3-and-D type player. … She’s also just tough. She’s mentally tough. She’s physically tough, and brings an edge to them,” Bird on Cunningham.
Caitlin Clark and the Fever went 20-20 last season and a trip to the postseason for the first time since 2016. They’ve already become a high-class squad with the additions of veteran players and coach Stephanie White, and their championship dreams could now be within reach.
Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever acquire two-time WNBA champ
While the Caitlin Clark-Indiana Fever already features a talented squad, their pursuit of players continues with their acquisition of Sydney Colson, a veteran guard who won two championships with the Las Vegas Aces.

Colson signed a one-year contract with the Fever on Thursday, and her skills provided valuable insight into Fever’s goal of assisting fellow guard Clark.
The former Texas A&M Aggies averages 2.8 points, 1.6 assists, 40.5 % on field goals, and 32.5% on threes throughout her career.

Colson will join Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner as the free agents signing for the Fever. Their veteran experiences will prove necessary as they help Caitlin Clark and Indiana get more wins in the upcoming season.
