Late political commentator and conservative figure Charlie Kirk got recognition from Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, who gave a strong suggestion of having a statue of the late figure erected in the state. This proposal, however, was met with criticism by one women’s basketball star from the state.
In a post on X, LSU Tigers women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson shared the news of the Louisiana governor’s intent to have a Charlie Kirk statue erected in their state. She simply commented with multiple question marks to show her honest reaction.

“We’re going to put a challenge out to the LSU Board of Supervisors to find a place to put a statue of Charlie Kirk to defend the freedom of speech on college campuses,” Landry said. “Come on, ladies and gentlemen, let’s see if we can be the first campus to do it.”

Under the same post, Johnson blasted a fan who admitted to being a fan of Kirk.
“For the sake of clarity, if you align yourself with or endorse his racist rhetoric and discriminatory views toward people of color, I respectfully ask that you utilize the unfollow option at the top right of my profile,” she said.

Recently, the Student Government Association at Loyola, which is a private Catholic university in New Orleans, denied the request of Turning Point USA to have a chapter in their university.
GOP Senators Seek Charlie Kirk Statue in National Garden Heroes
More than a dozen Republican senators, led by Senator Bill Cassidy, have sent a letter to President Donald Trump asking for the inclusion of the late Charlie Kirk in the National Garden of American Heroes.

The National Garden of Heroes is a project proposed to honor notable Americans throughout history who made an impact in their respective fields. Trump’s plan envisions using durable materials such as marble, bronze, and granite to complete the garden in time for the country’s 250th anniversary in July 2026.
The National Garden project was created by executive order in 2020 and reaffirmed in 2021, with roughly $40 million allocated in a recent spending bill to fund the installation of statues near Mount Rushmore.
The initiative also has support from Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, who issued a statement commending her husband as a contemporary founder and thanked the senators for their nomination. Lawmakers have also proposed other posthumous recognitions on behalf of Kirk, including a coin with his image on it.
Conversely, critics assert that introducing political figures such as Charlie Kirk diminishes the differentiation between historical commemoration and partisan messaging.
