Dallas Mavericks fans collectively held their breath when Cooper Flagg hurt his knee while on defense in the middle of the third quarter against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks rookie banged knees with Precious Achiuwa, who was driving to the rim with less than eight minutes left in the third period. Flagg stayed down for a while, but eventually went back up and managed to finish the game.
Flagg contributed 20 points (including 11 after the collision), eight rebounds, and six assists on 8-for-15 shooting from the field in 35 minutes of action to help the Dallas Mavericks win 100-98 on the road.
“It’s doing good. It’s a little sore and swollen, but it’ll be alright,” Flagg said of his knee after the game via Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. “Just being tough. That’s how my parents raised me, playing through stuff like that. It’s just kind of how I am.”

Dallas Mavericks News: Brandon Williams dishes on Cooper Flagg’s game-winning assist vs. Sacramento Kings
The Dallas Mavericks won on Tuesday night, as Brandon Williams hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 33.3 seconds left. During the key play, Cooper Flagg drew an extra man on a drive, and the rookie swingman passed the ball to Williams, who was shooting a career-low 18.8 percent from three-point range.
“Just shot it with confidence… I could kinda see it in Cooper’s eyes that he was gonna get off of it, so I just had to be ready to shoot. Regardless of what my percentage says, I’m always ready to shoot,” Williams said of his clutch field goal.
“Hell yeah. It’s been a minute since I hit a 3. It kind of felt good for the ball to go in. It was like 30 seconds left, so we had to finish the game out for me to really feel good,” he ended.
