After a slow start to the 2025-26 NBA campaign, the Dallas Mavericks finally pulled the plug on embattled executive Nico Harrison, which drew mostly positive reactions from the team’s fans because of his role in the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade last February.

Following the Dallas Mavericks’ 123-114 loss against the Phoenix Suns yesterday, Cooper Flagg was asked about Harrison, and the rookie swingman had nothing but good things to say about his former boss.
“It’s about basketball,” Flagg said via Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints. “He seemed like a really great guy… At the end of the day, I’m here to play basketball. Whatever goes on above me, it’s above me. I can’t worry about it too much. Just going to keep trying to show up and be who I am and try and get better every single day.”

The Dallas Mavericks dropped to 3-9 after losing six of their last seven. They will aim to bounce back when they face the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday in an NBA Cup group stage match.
Dallas Mavericks News: Klay Thompson shares his take on Nico Harrison’s firing
Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson also offered his take on Nico Harrison’s dismissal by highlighting the harsh realities of professional basketball while calling him a “friend” in the process.

“It’s a hard business, and Nico is a friend,” Thompson stated. “From the same city. I wish him well… He helped the Dallas Mavericks reach the conference finals and an NBA championship. It’s the hardest part of the business, whether you’re traded, you’re waived, you’re let go. It’s never fun.”
Speaking of Thompson, he was one of the team’s bright spots in yesterday’s defeat. The four-time NBA champion poured in 19 points, three rebounds, and six three-pointers on 6-for-17 shooting from the field in 31 minutes off the bench.
