NBA pundits have floated the idea of trading Anthony Davis to kickstart their rebuild, but apparently, the Dallas Mavericks front office isn’t keen on pulling the trigger anytime soon.
According to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, the Dallas Mavericks want more clarity. The team wants a sizeable sample size with Davis, Kyrie Irving, and Cooper Flagg playing together before making any major decisions.
“Anthony Davis could very well stay in Dallas, and get an extension if things work out,” Azarly explained in the stream. “From what I have heard, the Mavericks really want to see Kyrie Irving come back and evaluate this roster with Kyrie.”
“The Mavs want to see what they have here, with Cooper Flagg, with Kyrie Irving, with Anthony Davis, before they pull any franchise-altering moves. Now, that obviously could change, assuming you get the right package on AD,” he ended.

Dallas Mavericks News: Dereck Lively II out for the season due to nagging injury
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks suffered a massive injury blow to their frontcourt, as it was announced that Dereck Lively II will miss the rest of the 2025-26 NBA campaign after undergoing foot surgery.
“Dereck has handled every challenge of this season with professionalism and resilience,” Dallas Mavericks interim general manager Matt Riccardi said. “While this is a setback, we’re confident in his long-term future and will support him fully through his recovery.”
After missing nine games due to a sprained knee, Lively returned to action in the Dallas Mavericks’ 133-127 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on November 14 and made three more appearances before experiencing swelling and discomfort in his right foot.
