Dallas Mavericks had some sort of moral victory on Wednesday when they lost on a controversial call against the New York Knicks. D’Angelo Russell’s spirit should be more crushed though after the Knicks’ broadcast team decided to do him dirty.

Russell has been under fire lately for his mid performance for the struggling Mavs who are currently 4-12 in the Western Conference standings. Much of the criticisms were about his inefficiency and the defense.

Knicks coach Mike Brown knew about that and in their Wednesday encounter, he had to drive that point to the team in the middle of the game. It was a difficult word to hear for any player.

    “Keep finding DLo.” 👀

This moment by Brown prompted fans to bring out an old clip when Brown, then coach of the Sacramento Kings, was able to beat the Los Angeles Lakers eight out of nine times with Russell as their main point guard. The one-time All-Star even had some great words for him.

Q “Sacramento swept you, 8 of last 9…Why?”

DLo (Lakers 23-4) “I think Mike Brown. I know how good a coach he is. I know what he’s done to that team…The system he’s put around those guys. Everybody’s involved. Everybody’s lethal. I know his style. So I know what they do is him” pic.twitter.com/kcuXSAbQTw

Russell was a target for the Knicks and they had successes. His main man Jalen Brunson had 28 points in the game.

He himself finished with a good 23 points and seven assists. However, his team did not get the victory.

Fans thought D’Angelo Russell was disrespected

Basketball is a mind game and the Knicks doing that to Russel is found dirty by many fans. They also thought Brown’s words validated their view of the Mavs guard.

Lmao man … nigga diabolical saying that knowing the camera in his face https://t.co/1ApElLxgQY pic.twitter.com/NsDIq8mBRP

Don’t broadcast this shit about such a lowly player.. broadcast this about the superstars that people pretend are just subpar defenders when in actuality, they are completely terrible and utterly disgraceful in the effort category on defense. https://t.co/bmyS4ntsf1

This might be the most disrespectful clip ever. Keep in mind they cosigned this airing. Lmao https://t.co/TrpEZYbaBP
