Former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins had a hot take about the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday’s episode of FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back.” Cousins, who had a short stint with the Pelicans, believes it’s time for the team to relocate. Relocation isn’t new in the league, and fans have witnessed several franchises move cities for a better outcome.

New Orleans has played three home games in the 2025-26 NBA season. According to ESPN’s data, the franchise ranks last in home attendance, with a total of 50,705. With a 2-8 record, the team is last in the Western Conference standings and has also had difficulty securing a winning record.

Fans of the team have also started to speculate that the ownership might relocate the team. The team’s devoted fans have concluded that New Orleans hasn’t done much to promote the new season.

On Wednesday’s episode of the FanDuel TV show, DeMarcus Cousins said that it’s time for the Pelicans to move cities.

“I think it’s time. I think it was time five, six years ago,” Cousins said.

Boogie Cousins believes it’s time the Pelicans fly to a new home. Do you agree? 🤔

Boogie grew up just down the road from New Orleans and loves the city, but he’ll still call it how he sees it…

“Especially New Orleans. You go to the games, it’s about 36 people there. Popcorn is a dollar, court side is $25. There’s not much success happening. Obviously, with the Pelicans they’re attached to the Saints as a package deal, but there’s nothing happening there.”

In terms of home attendance, the Pelicans finished sixth in the previous season. According to Sports Business Journal, the team averaged 16,815 in attendance.

Aside from New Orleans, Cousins said that the Memphis Grizzlies are another franchise that should relocate. The Grizzlies ranked lower than the Pelicans in attendance last season. With an average of 16,660, the team ranked fourth.

DeMarcus Cousins said he’d panic if he were part of the Dallas Mavericks’ fanbase

The biggest story of the season so far is the firing of Nico Harrison. After a 3-8 start, the Dallas Mavericks decided that it was time to move on from the general manager.

On Wednesday’s episode of Run It Back, DeMarcus Cousins gave his take on the situation. According to the four-time All-Star, he would panic if he were part of the Mavericks’ fanbase, especially after Harrison traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I don’t like anything that’s going on in Dallas right now,” Cousins said. “Obviously, with Kyrie being out, that changes a lot for this team.

“Obviously, you drafted Cooper in place of Luka’s leaving. Great, that’s cool, whatever. But now you’re also in a year of trying to develop a rookie out of position as a point guard, on top of talking about having championship aspirations. The plan is all over the place… So, I would definitely panic.”

After Harrison’s dismissal, trade rumors have started to surround the Mavs.
