Chris Paul announced his retirement just last week and he is probably expecting his last year to go smoothly. Fast forward to Wednesday, he is now without a team for real after he was released by the Los Angeles Clippers.

CP3 himself broke out the news of him getting ‘sent home’ on his Instagram story, leaving fans shocked. This is supposed to be his farewell season and he gave a lot to the franchise when he helped them achieve relevance after he arrived there in 2011.

Just six hours ago, the 12x All-Star posted an IG reel highlighting how happy he is as part of the organization and creating his legend there.

The Clippers, who are heavily struggling this season, then sent out a public statement regarding the shocking move and insisted that they are not blaming the veteran.

“We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team,” the team wrote.

“We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”

    Fans got Chris Paul’s back

What Clippers did to CP3 did not sit well for many fans. His brother called Clippers organization ‘crazy’ for the move.

    “These people are crazy!!”

Lots of people have strong opinion.

All the emotional rollercoaster without the final ride. Brutal. Peak emotional abuse for fans and players alike.

Chris Paul, a future Hall of Famer I expected to be the first Clipper to get his jersey retired one day, getting sent home at this stage is one of the most astonishing things I’ve seen covering this league.

Worst team in the league you used to call home needs a reason to sell tickets and they won’t give you courtesy minutes on the roster that’s so foul https://t.co/jxIcak0sGC

this is so weird lmaooo.. nothing will fix this team might as well just lose out and give him the proper retirement tour

The clippers releasing Chris Paul with no warning during his last NBA season is absolutely despicable. Quite literally your best player in franchise history and you do tht??? Inexcusable and tasteless
