Dallas Mavericks rookie star Cooper Flagg was planned by former Mavs GM Nico Harrison for a trade, shortly before he was fired, or at least that was one report from a social media post, claimed.
In one post on social media platform X, it was alleged that Nico Harrison had a plan to trade Cooper Flagg out of the team, shortly before he himself was fired from the franchise. However, the source of the supposed news was a parody account called NBA Centel, which is known for positing fake and satirical news and updates in the basketball industry.

Cooper Flagg Clears Up Personal Relationship With Nico Harrison
Rookie Cooper Flagg offered a measured response after the Dallas Mavericks dismissed general manager Nico Harrison, saying he and Harrison “seemed like a great” pair and that they had a “really solid relationship,” but adding that organizational decisions are beyond his remit as a player.
In a post-game interview following their loss to the Phoenix Suns, Flagg addressed reporters’ questions about his level of relationship with the former franchise general manager.

“For me, it’s about basketball,” Flagg said. “Now, obviously, I didn’t have an incredibly long relationship with Nico. But, you know, from when I knew him, he seemed like a really great guy, and we had a really solid relationship.”

Flagg arrived on the team while the franchise is under fire after it traded its former superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Harrison, more than anyone else, got blasted by the fanbase and blamed for the decision, even leading to the popularity of the “fire Nico” call.
Flagg also clarified that his focus right now is beyond organizational changes and decisions such as that of Harrison’s firing, something he admitted that his above him.
“And today I’m here to play basketball, and, you know, whatever goes on above me, it’s above me,” he added. “So, you know, I can’t worry about it too much. Just kind of keep trying to show up, and, you know, be who I am and try and get better every single day.”
Dallas, now 3-9, faces pressure to stabilize as it prepares to host the Los Angeles Clippers, and Flagg framed the moment as one for players to concentrate on performance rather than front-office matters.
So far this season, Cooper Flagg is averaging 15.0 points per game, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
