Brook Lopez did his job well as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s much needed stretch when he was still with the Milwaukee Bucks. He left this summer for the Los Angeles Clippers but fans might not miss him that much as the new starting center is very much capable of fill his shoes.

The Bucks acquired Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers shortly after Lopez’s departure, a move to get the team younger without revising their system that much. Fans got a glimpse of the possible dynamics between Turner and Antetokounmpo on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls and there’s every reason to be excited.

The two-time blocks leaders played 24 minutes in that game and sank in five threes. The Greek Freak thought they complemented each other well.
“By him cutting, it created a lot of attention in the paint and (Nikola) Vučević went to him and then I was able to create a wide-open shot to Scoot [Kevin Porter Jr.], which we are going to have a lot of those shots throughout the year,” Antetokounmpo told The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.

“I think (Scoot) had three, four, five seconds to set his feet, and nobody went out there to contest it. Probably the most wide-open shot we’ve seen in these last three preseason games.”
The two-time MVP finished the game with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists although in limited minutes.

Turner himself is excited to play with Giannis.
“Man, he about to change my life. It’s different. Just being on the other side of it, it’s interesting,” he said in a courtside interview.
Antetokounmpo feels the same. Outside shooters are important for him as he always looks for someone to pass to. He got it from Lopez who became the Splash Mountain when he became a Buck. He knows he will get it, too, from the 11-year veteran.

“He’s a very good player, obviously,” Antetokounmpo said of Turner. “He is a threat from out there at the 3-point line. He creates incredible spacing for us. We can hit him in the short roll or in the roll all the way for a bucket.
“It’s fun playing with him. Makes the game easier for me. I think I’ll try to make the game easier for him. When I draw a lot of attention, I think he’s gonna be able to create a lot of open shots … So he just makes the game easier not just for me, for the whole team.”
Head coach Doc Rivers has one more pre-season game left to test the dynamics between Antetokounmpo and Turner before they go back at home to welcome former star Khris Middleton and Washington Wizards for their first game of the new season.
