Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga wants to move on from the franchise that drafted him. Kuminga requested a trade from the Warriors on Thursday, the first day he became eligible to be traded. The forward hasn’t been part of coach Steve Kerr’s rotation for a while, and the last time he played was on Dec. 18.
With the news about Jimmy Butler‘s season-ending torn right ACL, Kuminga’s name has come up as someone who could have an increased role for the Warriors. Without Butler, the team needs a player to step up and give them a chance to remain as title contenders in the NBA.

On Tuesday, the Warriors had a press conference ahead of their game against the Toronto Raptors. General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. addressed Butler’s injury. He was also asked about Kuminga’s trade request, which he responded to with a blunt reality check.
“I’m aware of that. In terms of demands, when you make a demand, there needs to be a demand on the market,” the executive said via ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “So we’ll see where that unfolds. But always with these guys, I’m willing to work with them.”

There haven’t been many teams interested in dealing for Jonathan Kuminga since his request.
Jonathan Kuminga still wants to be traded
Nothing has changed for Jonathan Kuminga, despite having a potential opportunity to be reinstated into Kerr’s rotation. Kuminga still wants to be traded, according to Slater. The NBA insider spoke about it on the latest edition of “NBA Today.”
“And from the Kuminga side, his feelings towards the organization and Steve Kerr have not changed. I’ve also been told that [Kuminga] will be ready if called upon, and I do think we’ll get another chapter of this.” Slater said.
Kerr stated that Kuminga could return to the lineup.
