Former Chicago Sky star Kysre Gondrezick admitted she would have loved to play for the inaugural season of the Unrivaled Basketball League, but she said she is content doing her own thing off the court this offseason. She said she is happy to see that the new women’s league is providing for the women’s basketball players participating in the tournament.

Gondrezick was invited to the latest edition of the annual “The Sports Power Brunch,” an event that gathers prominent women in sports. The former fourth-overall pick of the Indiana Fever in the 2021 WNBA Draft was asked about her thoughts on Unrivaled.

“I would love to head down to Miami. I would have loved to have been part of it,” Gondrezick said. “But my team is keeping me really busy right now and hopefully I can have something good for Miami where I can show [my] face to show support to the girls because what they’re doing there is great and exciting to watch.”

The Unrivaled league, co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, is designed to be an alternative means for female professional basketball players to showcase their talent and earn good money while the WNBA is on its offseason. The three-on-three tournament tipped off its inaugural season on Jan. 17 and will conclude on March 17, including the playoffs.

The league’s debut season features six teams of six WNBA players, including Stewart, Collier, Angel Reese (Chicago), Skylar Diggins-Smith (Seattle), Dearica Hamby (Los Angeles), Jackie Young (Las Vegas), Alyssa Thomas (Phoenix), among others. The games are played at the Wayfair Arena in Miami and aired over the various platforms of Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT Sports.

Kysre Gondrezick is currently not signed to any WNBA team, so she keeps herself occupied with her other passions while waiting for her next opportunity to suit up for the hardwood. She played five games with the Sky last season before getting released.

In the meantime, Gondrezick is busy growing her social media presence, partnering with fashion brands like Skims and Victoria’s Secret. She has also forayed into film projects, and has one set for release this year.
