Jayson Tatum has no established nickname yet despite him being one of the top superstars in the league. He is called JT, Big Deuce in reference to the name of his son. The Boston Celtics star is also called Taco Jay sometimes.

‘The Anomaly’ might be something fans and non-fans can ride on now after the latest news on the five-time All-Star’s recovery program. Many of his fans call him that because of skills that may not match his height. It was started by user by X user @Mahcus_Smaht.
I think Tatum’s nickname should be The Anomaly.
Handles like someone 6 inches shorter, shoots pull-ups like a guard, finishes at the rim like a center, and consistently defends 1-5.

Tatum is aware of the nickname given to him but his reception is cold. Maybe he is just about letting his game talk, something he already did when the Celtics won the 2024 title.
Non-fans should acknowledge this nickname somehow as Tatum continue to defy science while recovering from an ACL injury. A video surfaced the 27-year-old already dunking, something against the usual expectations when it comes to recovery period from an ACL.

Tatum previously got his fans excited when he posted on Youtube a video of him working out already.
Jayson Tatum not ruling out this season
Tatum is not supposed to play in the 2025-26 season. He already said that he is not rushing anything and that he is focused on getting to 100 percent. His latest videos showed is on his way there.
Shams Charania’s latest report is suggesting otherwise.
“The Celtics haven’t ruled out Jayson Tatum for the season and they’re cautiously optimistic..
He has a goal in mind that he wants to play this season and we’ll see if he gets there” @ShamsCharania #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/nfVq9tHOaB

Tatum returning earlier than expected should be a huge lift for the Celtics who have been counted out by critics for their squad’s strength. The team lost three of the members of their core with Jaylen Brown, Sam Hauser, and Peyton Pritchard remaining from their regular rotation.
