Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis has been out due to a left calf strain, causing him to miss eight straight games. Davis showed promise at the start of the 2025-26 NBA season, appearing in five games. In the fifth contest, however, he had to leave the game following the injury. On Sunday, ESPN’s Shams Charania gave a concerning update on AD’s road to recovery.

During the stretch where the one-time champion was active, he put up 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists on 52% shooting. Ahead of the new season, fans expected Davis and the Mavs to have a competitive year. Unfortunately, the injury to the star big man has affected their 3-10 record.

After missing eight straight games, Charania reported that Davis will continue to miss more games. On X, the league insider reported that the Mavs’ frontcourt star will miss at least seven to 10 more days. AD could miss at least six more games during that span.

Following the report, fans expressed their concern for the Mavericks and Anthony Davis. Here are some of what the fans said.

“Traded 25 year old Luka for this….” a fan said.

“This is the guy they got for Luka who’s averaging 40 rn,” another fan commented.

“The Luka trade gets worse every single day,” one fan said.

“But Nico Harrison told me AD was healthy enough to play about 8 days ago,” a fan commented.

    “Anthony Day-to-Dayvis,” someone commented.

“Bro was questionable the last 3 games what happened,” a comment read.

“Yeah trading Luka for day to day Davis was so smart,” a fan joked.

The Mavs need Davis back in the lineup to have stability and snap their current three-game losing streak.

Anthony Davis’ former co-star believes he’ll do well if he’s traded to the Golden State Warriors

Last week, the Mavericks finally pulled the plug and fired Nico Harrison as the general manager. Last season, Harrison was the mastermind behind the historic trade that exchanged Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis. Following the front office’s decision, there have been several trade rumors around Davis.

Due to the abysmal start to the year, fans believe that Davis’ days in Dallas are numbered. His former co-star, DeMarcus Cousins, suggested a trade with the Golden State Warriors. On X (formerly Twitter), Cousins brought up the potential trade and called it “interesting.”

“Ad to the warriors would be interesting 🤔” Boogie posted.

The Warriors are 8-6 and are looking to contend for a title with veteran stars. The Mavericks could execute a trade that includes Jonathan Kuminga. Over the summer, there was a standoff between Golden State and Kuminga regarding the young forward’s contract.

AD could have a fresh start with the Warriors, as he’ll be teamed up with Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler. It will also benefit Golden State to stop relying on Green to play center.
