Norman Powell takes the blame for the Miami Heat’s botched final play, as they came up short in their comeback against the Orlando Magic on Friday (106-105).

With the Miami Heat down by one with 3.7 seconds left, Bam Adebayo received the inbounds pass and tried to pass to Norman Powell in a dribble hand-off. However, Jalen Suggs prevented the pass, and Adebayo airballed the three-point attempt at the buzzer.
“It’s usually my iso play to go get a bucket,” Adebayo detailed via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “But, throughout the game, it’s ran for a backhammer and (Powell) comes running off. So, just miscommunication on the last play.”

“I feel like it’s on me,” Powell said. “I hate messing up at the end of games. I should have spaced out and gave him some room to work.”
Miami Heat News: Tyler Herro faces possibility of missing time due to foot injury
After recently returning from offseason surgery on his left ankle, Tyler Herro was on the sidelines during the Miami Heat’s narrow loss to the Orlando Magic due to a right foot injury. The one-time NBA All-Star will undergo an MRI this weekend to determine the extent of his injury.

“I pray for him, man, because I know it’s tough on the mental,” Bam Adebayo said of Herro. “Obviously, you fight your way throughout the summer. And then you have surgery, and then you come back, and then it’s another injury. So I know it’s tough on the mental. But as you know, we’re all family. We’re all here to be by his side and be with him as he gets healthy again.”
“Listen, you don’t realize how gratifying it is to have a functional toe until it’s not functional, and you got to actually walk around, push off,” he added. “People don’t think we got to push off screens, we got to run, jump. So it plays a big part in our sport.”
