Does Mike Brown hate Josh Hart or not? The New York Knicks keeps on forgetting about the veteran guard even if his impact on the floor is undeniable.
Brown previously said that he made a mistake of benching Hart in fourth quarters of many games. He said that in November 27 when they won against the Charlotte Hornets by a large margin.

“I’ll be the first to say that wasn’t the right thing to do [to bench Hart in fourth quarters] because he does so many great things for us and our group and our coaching staff,” Brown said that time.
“And obviously as time has gone on, we’ve gotten a better feel for how we’re going to play him and he’s got a better feel, too.”
Hart played 34 minutes in that game and scored 22 points. He also had 8 rebounds and 7 assists.
Four games have past since that Hornets game and Hart’s minutes has gotten better. However, Brown almost overlooked the veteran again. Good thing for him, the staff reminded him.

Mike Brown almost did it again
It was not just about Hart finishing the game but also about him starting. Brown was against the idea of putting him on the starting five but his coaching assistants insisted on it.
“I rely on my staff. I had reasons why… All of them were like, ‘Hey, these are the reasons why it would be better.’
The reality of it is, I just listened to my staff. If I’m the only one thinking the other way may be better at the time, then maybe I’m wrong. I’ve been wrong before & I will be wrong again in the future.

“That’s what I love about my staff. I have guys that aren’t afraid to tell me what they think. At the end of the day, I need to make the decision.
Right now, the decision is paying off well. They won against the Hornets again. As for Hart, he is playing significantly lower minutes this season compared to the last. Brown must be preparing him for the playoffs.
