Anthony Davis has once again become the punchline among NBA fans after pushing back against rumors surrounding his latest injury and a possible trade.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Davis will not require surgery on his injured hand and is expected to be re-evaluated in six weeks. The update only fueled more speculation about a potential move involving the Dallas Mavericks big man.
“These are teams that feel like, ‘Ok, maybe Anthony Davis has a chance to return during the playoffs’ and also could have a long-term future with said team for the next two to four years,” Charania said on NBA Today.
Davis quickly took to X to shut down the chatter, posting, “Yall better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!”
NBA fans, however, weren’t convinced.
@PlayoffBOS joked, “Out for ‘finger soreness’ from this tweet.”

@TheCoachesDesk added, “Yo @AntDavis23 are we talking about the surgery or trade being a lie? Spill the beans lol”
Meanwhile, @CryptidPolitcs delivered a familiar jab: “I know one thing that isn’t a lie: The right nickname for Anthony Davis is truly ‘Street Clothes’.”
Davis arrived in Dallas last season following the shocking blockbuster deal that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Since joining the Mavericks, the former All-Star has missed significant time due to multiple injuries, keeping the jokes—and criticism—alive.

“This the new Nike Air Always Hurt?”: NBA fans laugh at Anthony Davis’ mock-up ‘signature shoes’
The ridicule didn’t stop there. NBA Memes joined the pile-on with a recent post poking fun at Davis’ injury history.
The image showed Davis holding a foot brace, labeling it as his “first signature shoe,” which quickly caught traction among fans.
@AspiringNobody suggested a name, saying, “This the new Nike Air Always Hurt?”

@SearchDataEng questioned the image, writing, “I thought his hand was broken, how is he holding the shoe so tight?”
And @katsuxbt brought another star into the mix, saying, “they should hangout in the rehab center with embiid.”
For now, Davis remains sidelined, but as long as injuries and uncertainty follow him, NBA fans seem more than ready to keep the jokes rolling.
