Bronny James just can’t seem to escape the noise. Every time he shows a flash of something good, NBA fans find a way to twist it.
After the Lakers’ 122–102 loss to the Hawks on Saturday, a highlight clip of Bronny’s drive to the rim started making the rounds online. It was a nice move — quick step, smooth finish — but the caption turned it into a joke instead of a compliment.

“Michael Jordan’s son not reaching these heights.”

From there, the comments section went wild.
One person wrote, “It’s ok so is Magic’s son,” bringing up EJ Johnson.
Another said, “Bronny is only there because of his dad.”
A third added, “That’s the most slow-motion live play I’ve ever seen.”
LeBron sitting out meant JJ Redick had to shake up the rotation, which gave Bronny a few more minutes than usual. He didn’t waste them — 9 points in 18 minutes, 4-for-6 from the floor — small steps, but the kind every young player needs.
“Bount to happen when your team is getting blown out”: NBA fans troll Bronny James after his ‘best game of year 2’
Even after a solid outing, the noise didn’t stop. When another highlight post labeled it Bronny’s “best game of year 2,” the replies came quick.

One fan said, “Bound to happen when your team is getting blown out.”

Another wrote, “Laker fans applaud mediocrity alot. Way too much. This is praised but overall performance and its just one game. Ffs.”
And a third shot back, “His best game of the year we lose by 20 to the Hawks without 3 of their starting 5. Give it a break. Let my man cook without you corn balls commenting on everything he does.”
That’s just how it goes for Bronny. Every made shot, every missed layup — everything gets magnified. Still, he’s handling it better than most would at his age.
In that Hawks game, he went 4-for-6 from the field for a season-high 9 points, adding a rebound and an assist in 18 minutes. So far, he’s averaging 2.6 points, 1.0 rebound, and 1.9 assists in about 13 minutes a night. Not eye-popping numbers, but signs of growth — and maybe a glimpse of something steadier coming.
