NBA fans have started calling for the Golden State Warriors to trade out one of its stars, with some fans expressing disappointment with missed expectations from the player.

Over on social media platform X, NBA fans have called for Brandin Podziemski to be traded by the Warriors, with most people citing how he has not delivered on expectations despite expressing interest in taking on a leadership role. One fan even called back to a previous claim that he would be the Shohei Ohtani of the franchise.

“This dude said really he would have been like Shohei Ohtani in baseball,” the fan said. “I’m not even joking the Warriors could sign Ohtani tomorrow and he’d be better than this bum at basketball.”

However, one fan sees an issue that could be preventing the Warriors’ front office from finding a good deal for Podziemski.

“The issue is that his trade value is plummeting, so what now,” the fan said.

Previously, the Golden State Warriors passed on a chance to acquire Lauri Markkanen ahead of the 2024–25 season, a decision that looks increasingly costly after the Utah forward erupted for 47 points in a 150–147 double‑overtime win over the Chicago Bulls this week. Markkanen has emerged as one of the league’s top scorers, ranking among the leaders in points and three‑pointers through the early part of the season, underscoring what the Warriors declined to add to their roster.

Sources say Golden State balked at deals that would have included young wings Brandin Podziemski or Jonathan Kuminga, preferring to protect those assets even as they pursued Markkanen with draft compensation.

Inside the organization, veteran Draymond Green reportedly urged the front office to avoid surrendering young talent and multiple picks for Markkanen, arguing that such a major move required absolute certainty. Green publicly framed the decision as one that could have backfired, noting the difficulty of matching Utah’s asking price and the risk of mortgaging the team’s future for a single offensive piece.

NBA Fans Call for Brandin Posziemski’s Trade

Over at X, fanbs have started the call for the Warriors to let go of Brandin Podziemski with a trade.

“Should have traded him last season smh,” said one fan.

Another fan echoed the sentiment and cited that the star has not improved for quite some time.

“Podz has not improved one bit,” they said. “Idgaf what nobody says. What areas of his game has he improved since his rookie season? Don’t worry. I’ll wait.”

As the season progresses, NBA fans will definitely scrutinize how Podziemski would do as the trade deadline closes in.
