One post on social media platform X gave a comparison of the average viewership of the NBA during its 2024-2025 season, compared to the WNBA’s most recent 2025 season. WNBA fans reacted to the post and gave their insights on the matter.
Over at X, one video went viral that compared the average viewership of the 2024 season of the NBA vs the 2025 season of the WNBA. While the post concluded a positive future for the women’s league, WNBA fans have a different perspective on the matter.

For one fan, the solution to increase WNBA viewership is as simple as making the games easier to watch.

“If they make it available people will watch,” they said. “It’s that simple.”
Throughout the years, one of the biggest criticisms of fans for the WNBA is that, unlike its parent league, the NBA, the women’s league is harder to watch, since it lacks a centralized source of regular broadcast for its games.
While both leagues offer League Pass subscriptions, the NBA’s version is more robust, with better app integration and broader device support. The WNBA League Pass has improved, but fans still report issues with reliability, blackout restrictions, and lack of cross-platform consistency
These disparities contribute to the perception that the WNBA is less accessible, even as interest in the league grows. Fans and analysts have called for more equitable media coverage and streamlined viewing options to help the WNBA reach broader audiences.
WNBA Fans Debunk Viewership “Closing in” Angle
Over at X, WNBA fans discussed the argument that the league’s viewership is closing in on NBA numbers. For some fans, simply throwing the number out there may not paint the real, bigger picture.

“Does Clark skew those numbers?” one fan asked. “In other words, a random Hawks VS Nets game will do 1.85 mil, but does a random non-Clark game do the number you posted?”

Another fan echoed the sentiment and pointed out how non-Fever games do not share the same numbers.
“If you remove CC [and] Fever games, the numbers would not be close,” they said. “It’s why the Fever had the most nationally televised games and will continue to. The W is heading in the right direction, but you can’t make comparisons yet cause the numbers are bolstered by one player [or] team.”

While the league is in its offseason, WNBA fans are looking forward to how issues of viewership and the CBA negotiations can affect future seasons.
