NBA fans on social media recently expressed them being “thankful” with the Dallas Mavericks, but for reasons that may not be what the franchise might be expecting.
Over at X, the thread of the Thanksgiving greeting of the official Dallas Mavericks account may not have gone according to plan, with some NBA fans being thankful, but not for the same reasons as the team post implies.

“From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!” the post caption read.

However, while some fans are still also thankful for something, it seemed they are thankful for something else entirely. One fan, for example, did not mince words on what they are thankful for.
“I’m thankful for Luka,” the fan said.

Another fan had the same sentiment, but seemingly phrased it in a different manner.
“Where Luka at the dinner table? LMAOOOOOO” they said.
Earlier this year, Dallas Mavericks fans were shocked by the news that their former superstar, Luka Doncic, was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for veteran Anthony Davis. A lot of fans blasted the franchise front office for the decision, particularly the general manager, Nico Harrison.
Earlier this month, Harrison was fired by the franchise as its general manager. While the official reason for his firing was stated to be mishandling and salary cap decisions, fans believe that the franchise executives have listened to the fans and have fired the GM for the trade that many consider to be a huge loss for the Mavs.
Doncic, meanwhile, has thrived with the Lakers and is now considered one of its top stars, alongside breakout star Austi Reaves and veteran superstar LeBron James. In a recent interview, however, Doncic hinted at an interest and attachment to the Mavs as a franchise, which fans took as a sign that he may one day be back to the team.
NBA Fans Thankful (and NOT Thankful) for Something Else
Over at X, NBA fans continued to blast the Dallas Mavericks. Some fans were thankful for entirely different reasons, while some were not thankful at all.

“Our family was blown up on Feb 2, 2025,” one fan said. “We ain’t a family no more. You’ve made it clear this is all just a business. Happy Thanksgiving to the players though.”
Another fan, meanwhile, blasted former GM Nico Harrison with sarcasm.
“Happy Thanksgiving to the worst front office in the league,” they said. “Nico gone but damage is gone. Flagg is good but he’s not a generational talent like Luka.”
NBA fans, particularly Mavs fans, meanwhile, continue to hope for an improvement this season, as the franchise currently sits near the bottom of the Western Conference.
