Ja Morant ended up as the punchline for NBA fans this week after a fake report about him leaving Memphis started making the rounds.
The post came from Logion Noops, claiming the Memphis Grizzlies were trading Morant to the Miami Heat. There were no confirmed sources attached to it. That didn’t really matter. Once it was out there, fans ran with it.
Social media didn’t waste any time piling on.
@ZakKnowsBall68 joked, “Sources tell me it’s for Terry Rozier, the Grizzlies will also take on his gambling debt in the trade.”

@TheRoch added, “Should’ve sent him to Chicago.”
And @Hari2fye leaned into the internet classic, saying, “source: trust me bro.”
The joke didn’t come completely out of nowhere. There have been reports floating around that the Grizzlies and the Heat have at least discussed the idea of a Morant trade. Nothing official, nothing close. Just noise.
Even then, the talk has always come with conditions. The Heat, according to those reports, would only be interested if Morant came at what they’d consider a bargain price. That part usually gets left out when fake posts start spreading.

“Adam Silver gonna send him to Guantanamo Bay”: NBA fans mock Ja Morant following his celebration against the Orlando Magic
Before the fake trade buzz really picked up, Morant had already given fans something else to talk about.
During a game against the Orlando Magic, the Grizzlies hit a three-pointer before the buzzer. With about six minutes still left on the clock, Morant broke out a new celebration. It didn’t land well.
After the shot, Morant celebrated by aiming toward the opposition and mimicking firing what looked like a rocket launcher. Cameras caught it immediately. Fans did too.

@LegendaryEnergy joked, “He’s gotta chill or Adam Silver gonna send him to Guantanamo Bay”
@hulksmashedme added, “bazooka on mlk day is actually insane.”
And @NateAndree didn’t hold back, saying, “Yeah this dude is a loose….cannon.”
Between fake trade rumors and another controversial celebration, Morant once again found himself at the center of NBA jokes — whether he was trying to be there or not.
