LeBron James has shown once again that he’s the king of basketball, but NBA fans thought he’s overdoing it.
Late in the Lakers’ matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, James took over when it mattered most, powering Los Angeles to a 112–108 win at Wells Fargo Center. His step-back jumper that pushed the lead to five should’ve been the highlight — instead, it was the celebration afterward that stirred up the internet.
James made a “crowning” gesture to himself, and fans immediately pounced.

One fan said, “Same energy, tbh,” pairing it with a photo of former U.S. President Donald Trump placing a medal on himself during the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw.

Another added, “Crowning yourself as a king is so f**king narcissistic.”
A third commented, “If you have to declare yourself king, you’re not a king at all.”
Still, the Lakers walked out with the win and improved to 17–6, keeping their hold on second place in the West — and James, as usual, let the scoreboard do most of the talking.
“Haters in shambles”: NBA fans fire back as LeBron takes over late
Though there were plenty of doubters around LeBron James’ career, as soon as the final horn sounded, LeBron’s supporters took over, pointing right back to the scoreboard and the way he took over the final stretch.

One fan wrote, “LeClutch God is back!!! Haters in shambles.”

Another added, “‘Washed’ folk real quiet tonight.”
A third said, “Yall sure this wasn’t a home game? The whole stadium was cheering for him lol.”
James finished with 29 points in 34 minutes and piled on 7 rebounds and 7 assists, with 10 of those points coming in the last five minutes. For all the back-and-forth about the celebration, the performance itself said more than enough — and at this point in his career, he seems perfectly fine letting the basketball speak for him.
