As Nico Harrison exits the Dallas Mavericks, NBA fans aren’t letting him walk away quietly. The recently fired GM has become an easy target online — and his latest resurfaced “hot take” isn’t helping.
According to NBA writer Tim Cato, Harrison once compared Jrue Holiday and Nikola Jokić as players of similar caliber.
“One team source recalls a document where Nico Harrison placed Jrue Holiday within the same tier of talent as Nikola Jokić,” Cato reported.

That line alone sent NBA Twitter into meltdown.
One fan wrote, “So he hates Europeans. This is why Draymond defended him.”

Another added, “Ain’t no way Jrue and Jokic in the same paragraph, let alone tier.”
A third joked, “it’s obvious he fell for the ‘white people can’t play basketball’ psyop lmao.”
Of course, the comparison doesn’t exactly hold water. Jokić, a two-time MVP, continues to put up absurd numbers — 25.2 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 11.9 assists across his last nine games for the Nuggets. Holiday, now with Portland, has been solid but far from that level, averaging 17.0 points, 5.5 boards, and 8.1 assists through ten outings.
“That ‘time will tell’ aged like milk”: NBA fans react to Nico Harrison’s last exchange as Mavs GM
Just when things couldn’t look worse for Harrison, another story added fuel to the fire.
Isaac Harris, host of the Locked on Mavs podcast, revealed details of his final conversation with the former GM — a moment that aged poorly.

“My last convo with Nico Harrison as GM was media day this year,” Harris said. “Told me my ‘why shouldn’t you be fired’ question was the most disrespectful question he’s ever been asked & had a good back & forth about it. Ended with him saying time will tell if he was right. Time has told.”

Fans rallied behind Harris, saying he asked what everyone was thinking.
One wrote, “It was a great question. It gave Nico Harrison an opportunity to give a great answer. Instead he made excuses about injuries and an empty prediction. What a disgrace.”
Another added, “Not nearly as disrespectful as trading away the greatest superstar in Mavericks history.”
And a third twisted the knife: “That ‘time will tell’ aged like milk.”
After trading away Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis, Harrison’s downfall felt inevitable. And judging by the fan reactions, nobody in Dallas is mourning this one.
