The New Orleans Pelicans recently signed free agent Kevon Looney to a two-year, $16 million deal, and no one is more excited about it than Jordan Poole.

“Omg!!! It’s so lit,” Poole posted on his Instagram story via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Poole and Looney were teammates on the Golden State Warriors from 2019 to 2023, and they won an NBA championship together in 2022. Looney’s arrival gives the New Orleans Pelicans a proven mentor to their young bigs, Yves Missi and Derik Queen.

Before joining the New Orleans Pelicans, Looney spent the first 10 seasons of his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, where he posted career averages of 5.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 57.5 percent shooting from the field in 599 regular season appearances (262 starts).

New Orleans Pelicans listed as potential suitor for another Golden State Warriors key player

Marc Stein of The Stein Line recently claimed that the New Orleans Pelicans are a potential suitor for Jonathan Kuminga, who just became a restricted free agent.

“While a return to the Warriors remains in play for Kuminga, sources say Miami, Chicago, Sacramento, and New Orleans are among the teams looming as potential suitors by way of possible sign-and-trade scenarios,” Stein reported.

“Golden State would be willing to help facilitate a move for Kuminga to join a new team but only if such a transaction were to outweigh the benefits of keeping Kuminga on their roster,” he added.
