Stephen Curry won the three-point contest twice in his career but that does not make him the greatest shooter ever. That’s what one-time champion Paul Pierce is claiming during a discussion in a podcast about his scoring ability.

The Boston Celtics legend was a guest in the Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast and talked about his footprint in the NBA which concluded 2017. He capped it off with one NBA title, one Finals MVP, and 10 All-Star Game appearances.
“Post game, mid-range, three, all the way out. I have no offensive weakness. Not one,” he said.
Pierce, known for propping up his colorful career on media appearances, then asked the host to enumerate the best scorers the league has seen and thought he can be compared to them.
“Take all the top scorers, take the best thing they do. Then take the best thing I do. The thing about me, you can’t even tell what’s the best thing I do coz I do all of them the same. What do you take away from me? What’s my greatest scoring strength? Nobody can even tell you ‘coz I did it all well.”
“I have no offensive weakness. I won a 3-point contest. Steph Curry was in the contest. That’s Steph Curry, and I beat him. Is he the greatest shooter ever? Well, I beat him. That’s all I’m saying. … Who’s the greatest scorer? Kevin Durant? I can do everything he can do.” -… pic.twitter.com/7PfXvBHJL6

This is not the first time that Pierce talked about how he is among the best pure scorers that history has seen.
Paul Pierce on beating Stephen Curry
Sharpe raised the discussion by saying that Pierce’s weakness might be from beyond the arc but then the Celtics great dropped his 3-point shooting victory in an All-Star Game and beat one of, if not the best 3-point maker of all time.
“I won a 3-point contest. I dominated the games from the three and it’s not a knocked on the greatest scores coz I respect all of them,” he said.
He jokingly bragged that he beat Curry in that contest although the Golden State Warriors star was still a rookie.
“I always tell people that. I say, ‘Hey, Steph Curry was in the contest.’ They’d be like, ‘Oh, he was a rookie,” he recalled laughing.
“It was still Steph Curry…10 years from now, that’s Steph Curry and I beat him. I don’t know how old he was. He was there.”

“Is he the greatest shooter ever? Well, I beat him,” he added.
Pierce then claimed that he is on the same level as Curry’s former Warriors teammate Kevin Durant.
“Who’s the greatest scorer? Kevin Durant? I can do everything he can do.”
