Grayson Allen shot the lights out in the Phoenix Suns’ 121-98 rout of the New Orleans Pelicans yesterday. The former Duke Blue Devil, who’s a career 41.4 percent three-point shooter, registered 42 points, four assists, three steals, and 10 three-pointers on 12-for-17 shooting from the field and 8-for-10 shooting from the charity stripe in 28 minutes of action.

According to Duane Rankin of AZ Central, Allen set the new single-game franchise record for made threes, and Phoenix Suns teammate Devin Booker said after the game that he is not surprised to see this type of performance from the 30-year-old.

“I’ve seen it multiple times. Not only last year, but through the summer all the way back to graduation class of 2014,” Booker said of Allen. “Definitely not a one-dimensional player, but everything opens up with the clip that he has.”

Booker was also there when Allen hit nine three-pointers during a 115-102 win against the Philadelphia 76ers in March 2024. In the said contest, Allen finished with 32 points, four rebounds, and five assists on 10-for-17 shooting from the field.

Phoenix Suns News: Grayson Allen compares last season’s team to this year’s

The Phoenix Suns got off to an uneven start in the 2025-26 NBA season, but they have found their form recently with a three-game winning streak. After last night’s win, the Phoenix Suns improved to 5-1 at home.

“I want to be careful about comparing this team to last year because it’s so different. Last year, we had a great start to the year. Our energy was great. Everyone was having fun playing. Around this time last year, things were going awesome. Vibes were great. It was a fun way to play basketball,” Allen said about comparing last season to this season.

“We were getting wins, but this group, this year, the way we’re playing and the way our defense is connected to our offense, and we’re relying on each other, five guys offensively and defensively. The activity is extremely high. The energy is extremely high on the court and on the bench,” he concluded.
