Dallas Mavericks star PJ Washington reportedly asked the court to dismiss the child support case filed against him by his ex, Brittany Renner.
In a report by US Weekly, PJ Washington asked a California court to dismiss his ex, Brittany Renner’s, petition to raise monthly child support from $5,500 to $35,000, arguing the filing is improper because the existing support order was set in North Carolina and Renner previously agreed the amount was sufficient during that case.

Washington’s filing says the North Carolina case resulted in shared joint custody, that Renner was once held in civil contempt for denying court-ordered parenting time, and that the prior settlement required him to cover their son’s private school tuition and childcare in full.
“He comes to California on short trips to play basketball, and he has less than 10 games per year in California,” Washington’s lawyer said in his filing. “Except for the basketball games, he has only been to California once or twice for non-work purposes since Paul III was born in 2021.”
Renner’s petition says she moved from North Carolina to Los Angeles in November 2024 after Washington relocated to Texas, that her work on Basketball Wives ended and left her without a steady income, and that she cannot cover living costs in California on the current support payment.

Gilbert Arenas Supports PJ Washington Amidst Child Support Court Battle
The ongoing legal drama surrounding PJ Washington and his child support case with ex Brittany Renner had gained public attention, with fans and sports analysts weighing in on their insights on the topic as well. Among the latest who chimed in on the topic was former star Gilbert Arenas, who supported Washington in the legal fight.

“Women don’t realize you’re not getting your child support because of a computer AI,” Arenas said. “It’s a human being that’s dictating this. So when you’re going in front of a court, and you’re going in front of a woman judge, and this is the behavior that they’re seeing, right?”
Arenas, who also had his fair share of child support arrangements with past relationships, explained further how the narrative that Renner was giving out did not make sense, if someone would examine it carefully.
“You think what you’re doing is helping you, ‘I’m gonna show the courts that he cries when you come.’ Okay? What two-year-old boy wouldn’t cry if he sees his father once a week, right?” Arenas continued.
